There would be thousands of iconic images in Michelangelo Antonioni's "L'Avventura". Aldo Scavarda's photography is of a rare perfection and is often inspired by the most famous Renaissance compositions. For this reason, each frame generates in the viewer a mechanism for identifying and revealing fragments of memory rather than an element of novelty. And it's not a limit at all, in fact. A strength of that visual grammar is precisely that of being based on the collective imagination but transferred it into a dreamlike and surreal dimension accentuated by the ethereal face of Monica Vitti and the rarefied sicilian atmospheres.
