What is oldest is contained in what is newest: part of the Rovati Foundation's Etruscan collection is in fact housed in the hypogean halls, built with great engineering effort and covered with waves of pietra serena. The texture of this stone is so fine as to be almost unreal, but perhaps that was Cucinella's purpose as well: a certain level of abstraction to take the visitor to another dimension.

There is also a lot of boldness in the main floor rooms, restored with upholstery and colors at the opposite end of the neutral spectrum, but philologically at peace with themselves and the contemporary artworks in the collection they (also) house.
